.22 ammo available

Stopped at Sportsmans Warehouse and they had quite a bit of .22 long, .22 long rifle, .22 Stinger .22 WMR, 17 HMR.
The Stingers I have not seen in a decade.
They are lifting the limit of 3 boxes. I hope the self created scare is over and hope some of those hoarders and profiteers get to eat some high priced ammo.

I've actually seen some at my local Walmart the last few times I've been in there. Good to see...

Natchez had a bunch on sale this week, too. Been seeing it at the LGS as well as Wally World. Hope people that have been grousing about not being able to get what they want have the sense to set a little aside now and then for a rainy day (or another scare).

ya its been available fairly regularily now for a couple months. cabela's has 3-4 feet of retail shelving full these days and i've been seeing the remington buckets and other bulk ammo showing back up.

the 17hm2 appearing tells you just how close we are to being back to normal, selection wise anyway. If they're willing to shut down a 22lr press to run a batch of that unicorn, they're comfortable they're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

I went into the last scare, with about 4k 22LR in my ammo locker. We never got below about 2.5k rounds, by just buying when someone was selling at $.08/round or less, and not being particularly frugal on the range. I have a Grandson, and I never had to say, "Sorry, we are getting low on ammo, so we can't shoot today". But there were a few times I had to pull the plug before he was ready to quit. I bought a new Browning Buckmark, and that put pressure on the supply.

Anyway, this lengthy drought taught me one lesson...4K isn't enough of a stash! I am back to pre-drought levels, but this time, the ammo locker will will need to make room for more of everything!

Its been in cabelas for many months now, midway has it, widners, local stores have pretty much always had it for a stiff price. Walmart is always out due to the usual horders that sit for 2 hors waiting for it to get stocked.
Pretty pricey no matter where Ive seen them. It will never be down to walmarts $8.99 Federals 555rnd box again though.

*** Just saw in the local wallymart there were 40+ bricks of win 555 & win 333, 555 was at $28.49. ($20) more than 8 years ago. Limited to 1 per person a day still.****

I shoot Mini-Mags and Golden Bullets, both have been back on the shelves for about a year around here.

.17HMR was never missing from shelves.

.22WMR still scarce, but I don't look very hard for it.

Since they keep changing the round count in the containers it often requires me to do the math before each purchase.
Yesterday it took about 5 minutes to find the round count after a guy before me gave up. Another one of those fine print deals by Browning.

I agree. those people that went to Walmart at 5 am to buy up all the ammo when it came in need to eat that ammo for the next 10 years. Guys like me only shoot once in a while and could not find 22 ammo for a few years until now. Thankfully the 22 ammo is in better supply. There was no reason to buy brick upon Brick of 22 ammo and then hoard it. That was not good.

That's great to here, but I'm curious if there's a gun shop closer to you than Goodland that I don't know about.

There are shops in Atwood, Colby, and Healy that are all closer than Goodland, as well as one a farmer has in his shed right north of Monument.

The 22 has opened up in St. Louis...........just about any place that sells ammo has a decent supply.

I really haven't seen a "box" limit either.

Last time I looked (about two weeks ago) our Wall Mart still didn't have any. I guess the hoarders ain't happy yet.
It is showing up at the local shops though.

Who cares if ammo's in stock .... If its 20-40% higher than before the drought its no worse than the scalpers... We need it back to normal levels, HMR under $10 and 22 Mag less than $12.....

These are the new normals...like it or not, the prices are not going down. Ammo in general is higher, simple fact of it all.

Supply and demand. If they suddenly get bogged down with ammo that isn't moving they will drop the margins. Right now there is still enough demand to keep the margins high.

Haven't seen it all Wal-mart here for years. Some of the small local shops have it at still somewhat high prices. The relatively new Sportsman's Warehouse has had a decent supply of since opening, though usually in the pretty pricey 50-round boxes. Bulk shows up often enough to make it worth stopping by for a box now and again. Maybe my kids will get to experience a .22-trigger-happy youth like I did after all.
