I would check my hunting regulations before I made any decision. I know some regulations won't allow anything other than a rimfire at night, and others like here in NC, where you can only have a rimfire on gamelands after deer season. If regulations aren't of concern, a 22 hornet would make a better calling rifle than a 22 mag, because of more energy.
