Also been kicking around the idea of turning one of the same two I mention above into a 204 Ruger AR15 build. Based on your screen name you have some time with one. Have any thoughts you'd like to share about a 204 AR build?I had one of the first 22 Noslers with the cheapo stoner barrel, and it actually shot pretty well. With an adjustable gas block, I would have had no issues with torn up case rims, except for running suppressed. I've noticed on pretty much everything running suppressed ars, that if you tune it for the first shot through the can, that subsequent shots are over gassed and tear up brass to some degree. This can be mitigated somewhat with powder selection. A flow thru can should take care of it entirely. I'm not sure but I'm guessing the issue is residual gasses in the suppressor on follow up shots?
I was a big proponent of the 22 N though, I wish it would have taken off like a rocket, or even a Hornady product lol. I'm probably going to try the 22 Arc at some point, I think if you can get those high bc 62 grainers to shoot well it's the best of both worlds with good speed and retained speed downrange. The flip side to me though is if they don't shoot acceptably, and a lot of rifles seem to not like them so far, then the 22 arc is just another heavy bullet lobber. My buddy has found that the 69 tmk is the next best option and shoot way better in his.
I have some time with a few 204's. The first one would have been in about 2008 or 9, I had a local machinist turn a shilen blank into a 26" truck axle barrel that shot 32 nbt's into tiny groups. It accounted for untold numbers of prairie dogs, I never took it coyote hunting. I retired it a number of years ago now. My current one is a 22" ER shaw barrel from midway that I've had a year or two now, it shoots well and is a p-dog machine also. I load those with n133 at 4k fps. Also been kicking around the idea of turning one of the same two I mention above into a 204 Ruger AR15 build. Based on your screen name you have some time with one. That was my thought on the 22 arc as well. It has a bit more case capacity than the 6 arc if I recall. Like you stated if it would drive tacks with the 62 it would definitely be worth owning. However if it doesnt then your back to heavies.I had one of the first 22 Noslers with the cheapo stoner barrel, and it actually shot pretty well.
