What the F is going on with the 22 WMR ammo supply, particularly the Hornady VMAX 30gr???? Cabela's just screwed me on an order of 250 rounds that was placed 3 months ago and now they can't fill it and canceled the order because they can't fill it. So pissed I could shoot somebody, but I guess not with any frickin 22 WMR! Jeeeeeez.....................

Maybe they profiled you and found out that you're the kind of guy who gets "so pissed he could shoot somebody" and they decided not to facilitate you in such an endeavor. Just posin' a possibility...

call Cabelas in Rogers, MN. I was in there a couple of days ago and the shelves were full of 22WMR and a lot of hornady.

Wrong... just got off phone with Cabela's in Rogers, MN. They have no Hornady 22 WMR 30gr VMAX on the shelves. Granted, the guy I talked to is an idiot... guess my 200 rounds of 33gr Remington will have to do.

I gave up and sold my AMT 22 mag pistol to Cabelas the other day! I miss the $6.00 a box 22 mag. Its almost cheaper to reload a small caliber centerfire anymore.

I dont own a .22 mag but if I did I would be better off. You cant find .22 long rifle around here for nothing but when you do you better pick up all you can cause you aint going to see any for a month or better. As for .22 mag the shelves are alwats full at Wal-Mart and they have this cheaper ammo out there now that runs $7 or $8 a box called Dyna-Point or something like that. My dad bought a few boxes and it actually shoots pretty well.

this seems to have been going on for a few months now. It seems to be getting a little better as more time goes by. I can at least find 22 ammo now. it may not be exactly what I want but I can make my rim fires go bang now, which I think is better than nothing. It still sucks a big one though. I wish my .22 mag liked the 50 gr federal stuff. It is every where around here.

Ok time for a stupidnewbie question - I haven't posed one of those in a while.

What is the difference between 22Mag and 22WMR? I always thought they were the same thing?

Not a stupid question.

I'm not ABSOLUTELY SURE EITHER, but there is some weird stuff out there that is referred to as "22 MAG" but it looks like a 22LR bullet with an extended 22LR casing to me. Don't really know. Also, this stuff appears to be a temporary run by the manufacturer.

I think the confusion comes in when people like myself refer to 22 WMR (Winchester Magnum RIMFIRE) as "22 Mag" when it is properly called "22 WMR" and not "22 Mag".

Somebody more knowledgeable can correct me on this.

I agree that it is hit and miss at cabelas. I'll look again tomorrow when I am in there. one thing I have found is that the shelves at Cabelas stores and the online availability don't jive.

Must be very regional. At Ganders in Wisconsin we have had plenty of 22Mag ammo and tons of 22lr. I get calls every day from people looking for LR ammo like they are as scarce as primers. Just once did I ever see it get low.

22Mag is "slang" for 22WMR(Winchester Magnum Rimfire). 22WMR took over the role of the old 22WRF(winchester rimfire).
