222 magnum

I have a Remington 700 custom built 222 magnum. I love it for coyote hunting. It has a little more snort than the 223. Cases are hard to find but nosler makes them or just neck size a 204 case and they work just fine. I've also owned a herters u9 in this round and it was a great gun. Just wondering if anyone else still uses this cartridge and if they liked the round?

Have a couple deuce mags, great round for coyotes,, little rough on fox and cats.

One original 722 the other a re-barreled 700. Both shoot great with 55 speers.

If I could only have one varmint and predator rifle, the 222 Rem Mag might be my choice. Its a great cartridge, IMO.

I own a custom Rem 700 with a varmint weight barrel and a Sako L461 standard weight rifle "as is" from the factory, and both are very accurate rifles.

Because of the lack cases I was going to build a 257 Kimber 222 RM necked to 257 and improved. I end building a 25-204 and later a 22-204 which in all reality is just a 222 Rem Mag Improved 30 degree. It has been my pelt hunting rig for 13 yrs. The 222 Rem Mag is a great round equaling the 223 AI without all the hassle of fire forming and getting it to feed.

I'm glad your keeping the old ones alive. I'm partial to the 222 Rem myself.

A guy I used to work with had a .222 Mag on a Sako action. Had a 12X Leupold mounted on it. He was in serious need of some quick cash and offered it to me for a really great price. What was I thinking when I passed on it I wonder. One of the many guns that I let slip through my fingers over the years.

I have a Sako 469 in 222remmag i got from a deceased friend years ago. Never shot it that much, but the 222 mag is a good round.

I had two Remington 700s chambered to 222 mag quite a a few years ago. 26 inch kreiger gives me 3505 fps with IMR 3031 and a Sierra 50 grain bullet. Very accurate and deadly on prairie dogs past 300 yds. I switched to benchmark cause it meters way better. Brass was cheap, I like different/old oddball caliber so I chose the 222 mag instead of a 223. Back in the 60s Jack O Connor said it was the perfect varmint round between the 222 and the 22-250. I've used everything from 221 fireball to 6mm rem on prairie dogs. Jack may of been right

Mine is in a 1963 vintage Sako, L461, completely stock. I've had it for about 25 years now, and it's the one I grab the most for coyotes.

It wears a 3.5x10x50 Kahles and shoots very well.

I have a 1959 Remington 722 222 mag. One rifle that I will never get rid of. My son will hopefully keep it in tune after I am gone.

My only 222Mag was a 469 Sako back in the 80's. It was an accurate gun. Shot pd's in South Dakota for a week and sold it some time later. That was in '87, wish I'd kept it. Still have over 800rds of once fired brass from that trip.
