222 Questions

I don't know how many 788's in 222 I have had, but it is a few.

50 and 55g sierra lead tip blitz HAMMER coyotes hard!

H335 and AA2230 will give the best speed with accuracy. Benchmark and LT32 will perform very, very well.

I shot more 4198 in the 222's but I will not recommend it because of the long grains that demand that you weigh every one.

In extremes of cold/hot, I would choose Benchmark with cci 450's, and stand on the throttle with 55g sierra lead tip blitz.

I have an old mod 722 imr 4198,h322 and rel7 and 50gn vmax all have shot exceptionally well. The only bullet for me that did not shoot well was the hornady 40 gn vmax never could get it under 1.5 inches. Just about everything else was nice little cloverleaf groups

Extremely wise choice.

So what kind of little 222 did you get?

I was wanting a super lightweight 22 cal gun for coyotes. I found a Howa 222 on their micro action with a camo stock. The gun only weighs 5lbs 9oz. Someone had purchased it and put less than 50 rounds through it due to the fact that 222 ammo is not easily found on the shelf at sporting goods stores. Since I reload I could care less about ammo availability. It was in like new condition with zero scratches or wear marks and could not be distinguished from a new one on the shelf. The trigger is set at just below 3lbs and breaks like glass. It cost me $349. I could not be happier.
