.222 vs. .223

As for the original question, I'd go with the .222, just because it seems like everyone has a .223 anymore. Plus I like the old cartridge.
 
The ar's today shoot almost as well as bench guns of the sixties did. If you
want nostalgia go with the 222. If you want a working gun go with the 223.
There isn't a 223 out there you can't go on the forums and get a best load
for with most of the common bullets. It's just shear numbers. I had a savage
110 .222 years ago. It was a great shooting gun. But only an 1/8" or so better
than my RRA PP. I miss it, but not enough to ever replace it.
 
.222 is much cooler to own.

Any critter within normal calling range couldn't tell the difference of what just pushed the bullet into it.
