222Rem & 223 Rem Accuracy

The 222 was on top in benchrest ,later comes the 223. If the same effort was put in to the 223 as a benchrest caliber would it do as well as the duce ?I suppose this is another "inherent accuracy " question.

223 was never as accurate as the deuce in the benchrest world.

Of note is that a few bullet makers, Nosler being one, used the 222 mag to proof their bullets. More accurate than 223 inherently.

To answer your question in a word, no. For our purposes just run what works for you. I have 222, 222 mag and 223. Like them All, but the triple deuce mag is my all time favorite. For me.

If you convinced everyone in the benchrest world the 223 was the best and the majority used it, that's what would probably win.

For me. i agree with this. The 222 is an accurate cart. design. And the 223 was never designed in that manner. The 222 lost its footing simply because the 6ppc came along. And it was indeed designed to top the 222 and it did. To my understaning nothing has yet topped the 6ppc in short range BR. Though many 6mm variants are nabbing at the 6ppc's heels.

Only way to convince us, would be to show us. 223 is not up to the task. I have little confidence that that you could ever consistently shoot an agg in the teens with that cartridge. Even the triple deuce went by the wayside once the ppc & br cases came into play.
