.223 AI Trim to length

I have a friend that just got a 223 AI. He has fire formed several hundred factory cases and now is ready to reload in the AI form. He was wondering what the trim length is. I didn't know, I don't have any experience with this cartrigde (yet) but I'm guessing some one here will know. Thanks in advance for any information. Any pet loads for 40 grain ballistic tips or V-max's ? He doesn't have easy internet access or he'd be asking himself.

He shouldnt have to worry about it.
An Ackley (if the chamber is set up properly) will shrink about .010".

If you figure that most books list length-.010 as the trim length, hes already there.

I make up 20-223 AI's. Once they are fireformed, all I do to them is neck size.
I dont trim, I dont bump shoulders.

When I get one that chambers with difficulty, I just toss it and start over. And that takes a while to do.

Like Tackdriver said, you shouldn't have to worry about it. Ackley chambers, to the neck end, are usually the same length as the parent case. It is a simple matter to measure the chamber length with a gage, then trim .020 shorter. Sinclair sells the gage for $4.95.
