223 carbine....which powder

Kinda getting back into loading for the rifle and was wondering what powder to get started with. It's for a 16"AR with carbine gas. I have some 55 v-max's and a box or 2 of Sierra 52 gr. HPBT. I'll mainly stay in the 50-60 gr range if the rifle likes it. About the only powder I have that might work in the .223 is some IMR 4895. I want to keep the speed up because it's already going to be limited by the short barrel.

H322 and H335 both work good, but I think H322 will get the nod in speed between them. Might want to also look at Tac and Exterminator by Ramshot. I usually run Tac with the heavier pills and Exterminator with the 50-55's.

I like Tac, X-Terminator, AA2230, AA2015, and H4895. Varget works great for heavier bullets, but I shoot conventional weights- usually 50-55 grains. Currently using Tac since it meters so well and has a de-coppering agent in it. I am getting well under an inch with 50 BTs.

A vote for TAC, W-748, or H335...With the shorter barrel and that weight of bullet, I think you will find that your powder needs to be a reasonably fast burner...

Well I stopped by my local guy and he doesn't carry the TAC. I did grab a #1 of Benchmark. I guess it's someplace to start. I'll start with the 55G V-max's and CCI BR lighting it up. What Powder #'s are you guys settling in at? How 'bout COL with the V-max's?
