i have a shilen select match .223 barrel, ive just noticed after firing some rounds, there is a spot close to the end of the shoulder that shows a indention, ive looked at all the brass ive shot through this in the past 50 rounds or so,and its in the same spot on every one.
i need to know how can i remove it from the chamber? bronze brush?or should i just leave it alone?just dont like seeing it there!

Pull the bolt, take a bright light and look. I would take a short section of cleaning rod, a drill and a WET chamber sized brush and give it a few spins. Then a wet patch on the same brush. It could be crud, carbon, jacket copper, or brass. Sometimes it may require a overnight soak. A more severe way would be saturated fine steel wool on the end of the chamber brush, turned by hand only. You will also need to be POSITVE to remove all traces of the steel wool when done, as a good flush with brake cleaner. Worse case, your gunsmith can gently run a finish reamer in there.

Just a afterthought, are you sure the dents are coming from the chamber and not from hitting the deflector on ejection. Some of the AR guys may chyme in on buffers and springs if that is the case.

Interesting! I have never seen this happen to a cartridge. I had a problem with my new ruger predator but it was a long scratch in same area. Ruger had me send it back in and they polished that area. Seems to have taken care of the problem. Your looks like a metal shard or chip?????????? Rudy
