I shot a coyote this morning with a 55gr Z-Max, at about 70 yards. Shot him through the heart/lungs. He managed to go about 50 yards.
Exit was about tennis ball sized. He did do a nice nose plant!
Also shot this one this morning. He came in completely opposite of where they normally come from. He busted me as I was maneuvering and tried to high tail it. Shot him about dead center texas heart shot, bullet never exited. DRT
I've shot 4 coyotes this week, and the first pic is my only exit. So the ZMaxs are working for me, except I'm getting some runners half the time.
I have eleminated most of my spinners by switching to a 60gr Sierra HP in my 223. This has been a Thor's Hammer for me with midwest coyotes. My friend runs a 55gr NBT though his 22-250 and has not had any fur damage. Another great round for the 22-250 is the 55gr Sierra SBT. I have watched that bullet take out alot of dogs and I have never seen any tore up hides from it.
