.223, IMR4198, 50 Vmax loads

Anyone have any loads? I was at Cabelas, comparing a reloading book to the powder they had (more books then powder, by far!)

Decided to grab IMR 4198. Looked like it could push the 50 Vmax where I want it to be, about 3000-3200 FPS.

Anyways, any idea for loads? Will be thorugh my AR with 1/8" twist 20" bull barrel.

Good luck with he 4198. I couldn't get it to cycle through my ar. It shot some good groups but only single shot. It has been deligated to the bolt action.
 
I think the burn rate was too fast to build enough pressure to cycle the action. I can't remember the load but. When I got up to almost max then about every other one or every third one would cycle. Just didn't want to have to shoot above max. And If I remember that close to max the case was at or near a compressed load. And there were better metering powders out there. At that time I was using remington cases and remington 7.5 primers and 55gr v-maxes. Tried some with h-335 shot great so loaded the rest of the 4198 up to shoot through the bolt action and the kids single shots.
 
21 grs. Started with this load and shot one ragged hole, so stayed with it. This using 53 gr hp in a 1/9 twist though. The book I have has a separate section for the ar and bolt action. Loads for the ar with IMR4198 as follows. 50 gr bullet starts at 20.1 grs up to, but not exceding 22.5 grs. Tryed using some loads for another rifle that were alot hotter and had problems with the gun also.
 
Although I havent used 4198 in an AR I found that it did not give me the same accuracy as H 335 in a Bolt gun., I still have half a pound left. I was using up to about 22 grns.
 
IMR-4198 is a classic powder for the 223. 21.5 grains of it and a 50 grain bullet shoots very well in my CZ 223. Also, 22.0 grains of it with 45 grain bullets shoot well too. Was just out Tuesday shooting those loads, and they shot as good as I can shoot them.
