223 wssm chambering problems

I would like to see if you guys have any ideas about my gun. I have 223 wssm with a 27" heavy Hart barrel and I love it. Im getting 3/4" group at 200 yrds with 3568 fps with 68gr Hornady. The problem is the 2nd shell out of the magazine will jam up 99% of the time.If I go super slow some of the time it will chamber.Im taking it to a gun smith to see if he can figure it out but thought I would see if anyone here had any ideas.
 
I was having problems with a really sticky bolt on a 243 WSSM, I ran some Microlon into the breech and chambered a fired shell so that it was an expanded one in and out, kept putting some wet microlon on and I haven't had an even semi sticky case since. That stuff really works to smooth out metal on metal surfaces. It's magic what it does to the actions of semi autos.
 
Is this a new problem or one thats been around awhile? Had a Remmy with similar problems. Replaced the spring and follower and presto, problems gone.
 
I have had this problem sense I have owned the gun. I have had it for a while but havent worked up a load with it till this summer.I will try that.
 
I had this same exact problem with my 223wssm in a model 70. Its not the gun its the cartridge, it just has feeding problems, so I was told, I think it is just so short and fat and it likes to nose dive that second round if you go to fast.

No it cant, I used to shoot 55gr NBT at 4000fps out of my 28" lilja barrel. The 22 250 a/i is about 3800 or so which is still fast as [beeep]. The biggest reason I got rid of my 223 wssm was because of the brass issue, it was so far off in weight it wasnt even funny, out of a bag of 50 you could only get ten pieces that were plus or minus a grain, most were off by 6-8 grains which is pothetic, and mine only like to shoot the lighter ones that weighed about 305grains. The 223 wssm is a fun cartridge but it is still very hard on throats in the barrel, heck the throat in my factor barrel was gone in by 500 rounds.
 
The gun smith thinks he will be able to fix it. We will see. He said there is two things to do. First grind the rail down a little so the shell comes out sooner and or get a differnt stock that has a magazen. I will let you know if it works.
 
I got the gun back from the gun smith last week. He messed with the rails and the box and so far it has worked. I have ran 20 shells threw it and they have all loaded with no problem. The 223 wssm will be back on the stand this weekend.
 
Nice! Thanks for the follow up. I have one and LOVE it but I haven't encountered any feeding problems...yet. If I do, I'll be in touch. Mine is a Model 70 as well.
