223 wylde fluted barrel?

I'm starting to build my first AR and going 223 wylde. Where is a good place to get a fluted stainless barrel? I'm also undecided on 16 or 18 inch. I'll be using it for coyotes and Bobcats under 300 yards. Most of my shots will be 150 and under. All I have so far is a complete lower from RRA, so any advice on where to get the rest and what parts and tools I need would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jevan

Stag has an 18" stainless fluted threaded barrel. Occasionally on sale. 8 twist, both of mine have been pretty good.

WTD,

You can also just skip the flute and buy a complete upper assembly from Rock River.

Then it is all one. Not tools required.

Rock River also sells just barrels. They have regular 20-25% off sales (17% off right now) and Black Friday deals. I have a 16" non-fluted heavy barrel (not varmint) and it's kinda heavy for hunting, but shoots well. I once calculated the weight savings for fluting from RRA on that 16" barrel and it reduces the weight from about 40oz down to 32-34oz if I remember right.

I'd put RRA near the top of my list for off the shelf retail barrels for accuracy. $200 on sale is a good deal. Look for bolts on sale too, they often have chrome bolts on sale.

Thanks for the suggestions and I am currently researching them, however I'm also contemplating just getting the free eichler upper half from RRA. Any thoughts on that one?

All the RRA's that I've owned will meet or exceed their 3/4" guarantee with handloads. Don't know about Factory ammo, never use any.

RRA has the (first addition) Fred Eichler upper priced $150 to $200 below their PP & ATH uppers but if you buy the complete rifle it's the other way around. About $150 higher

As far as 16" barrel their loud as heII especially with a brake
Flash hider maybe a little better. Suppressor perfect
I have one 16" upper that I run a 5" Blast Can on that helps a lot but would be a lot better off with that much more barrel = more muzzle velocity

Any thoughts on that one? That's a decent upper on sale for $519 but you can prob build one yourself the way you want for the same price especially with this week's black friday sales. For me, that handguard would have to go (heavy, sharp, and ugly) and be aware of the short 16" barrel on velocity/effectiveness of 223.
