Dave, I love the 55g Nosler BT on yotes. They seem to be a different animal compared to the 50g BT.

You mentioned that you have had ? luck on the 50g BT on quartering shots. I shot a coyote in the head at 320 yards with the same bullet and it did not penetrate the skull, muzzle velocity was 4200 out of a long barrel 22/250 AI. They are meant to expand very quickly, and if more guys analyzed their kills, they would not be so talkative
on their results. Shots from the A$$ end from a lot of bullets leave a lot to be desired, especially 40g bullets.

I know there are a few fellas on NoslerReloading.com that use the 55 gr BT on deer. Their claim is that is is a tough little bullet.
I have only killed one coyote to date with the 55 gr BT but I dropped him in his tracks with a lung shot. Not the best picture but it does show the exit wound which was about the size of a nickle.

I seem to keep hearing good thing's about those Nosler 55 grainer's..I might have to reconsider my stance on plastic bullet's /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

wybob..sorry we ran away with you're thread.

I killed slug of yotes with a 22/250 AI 24" sporter with the 55g Nosler going 3850 fps, bullet never failed. I used this rifle to ride around and shoot yotes out of the pickup when they were out getting gophers in large fields that were being irrigated. The gophers would climb up on the rows of dirt that seperated different sections, easy picken's for the yotes till I got there.

For a rifle that likes the lighter 50g Bullets, I perfer the 50g Sierra Sp.

The toughest of the 55g 22 Cal bullets is the 55g Hornady, 55g Sierra BTHP, and the Sierra 55's Lead tips.
