22BR Range Report

Finally got the rifle set up the way I wanted, so took it out to see how it shot. The rifle is a Remington 40X. It had a 40X BR stock on it originally but since this is going to be shot with a bipod as well as off a rest,I wanted a traditional stock.

Rifle specs:

Caliber 22BR

Remington 40X action

40X stock with accessory rail in forearm

Bartlein fluted 12 twist barrel finished at 26"

Jewell trigger set at 5oz.

Leupold rings

Leupold VX3 8.5-25x50 w/ varmint hunter reticle.

Load I worked is 29.6gr. of Benchmark, Rem 7 1/2 primers, 50gr. Vmax. Brass is Lapua.

A target pic of how it shoots. The top left pic is a 3 shot group measuring .430 outside to outside.(The far left shot was getting it on paper). The center target pic (hole 2 1/4" high and 1/2" right) is a 3 shot group measuring .310 outside to outside.

I think she is going to be a shooter!!

Oh my, Dave! I fear that I am really going to have to put my best shooting efforts on to best you at the prairie dog fields next year! Your varmint guns certainly have come a long ways in just a couple of years.

Sure a good looking and good shooting outfit. Now then- when are you going to get a suppressor for all those neeto guns so that next year we can just leave our muffs at home?

Very nice rifle. I had a Savage Mdl 12 with a Shilen select match barrel in 6br that shot groups like that. It was super accurate and very easy to load

OT I don't think you would be disappointed. Seems to be a very accurate and efficient cartridge.

You're really going to like the 22BR.
Extremely accurate with out extensive load development.
I have an 8 twist 22BR Single shot. It really likes the 80gr Bergers.
I guess the only down side of a 22BR would be trying to make it a repeater.

So I guess that next year you will only be bringing out the BR to Wyoming, right? I mean, no need lug out all of those other heavy guns in their big heavy cases that takes up so much valuable room away from your family during the trip. You got all the gun you need now.

So pop me a PM and I will offer you a fair (to me, anyway) price for those other "lesser" guns of yours. Might just take that .204 AR, the .223 AI (just in case I like it better than mine) and the big bulky 6 SLR off your hands. Hey, throw in that K-22 that you inherited from your dad and I will toss in an extra $200 just for that.

I will be patiently sitting by my PC waiting for the PM message to start flashing.
