22wmr recommendations for raccoon calling?

Love the 22 mag, my favorite was a 512 that I really regret letting go. I bought mine primarily for skunks and coon. It was great out 150 or better on prairie dogs, a lot of helicopters but not much better than 40gr LR. On large animals. Most if not all manufacturers use the same bullet in the mag as in the LR and I believe it is just too soft for the extra velocity, expands or comes apart before decent penetration. Federal 50gr with the slower velocity may do the trick, don’t know as I no longer have a 22 mag, but a body shot on the larger animals with the 40 gr soft lead pushing two grand leaves something to be desired

Looking at a BCA upper or a Henry pump. Can’t really decide which one at the moment. I have a Remington 597 the new one will be for the boy?

LGS has a Browning T-Bolt in 22 mag on the rack. Not in the market for a 22mag but that is a sweet little rifle that feels good in the hands. Almost went home with it...still might.

Unless things have changed recently with the T-Bolt they have terrible triggers that don’t respond well to trigger jobs and there are no options for a decent replacement. I sold mine for that reason.

I have a Heckler & Koch model 300 22WMR and it the cats meow for short range calling. I use Winchester 40gr JHP's in it and from coyotes to coons, it lays them out.

Tippmann M4-22 Magnum came in today. Going to swap out some furniture, trigger, and add an optic.

BCA uppers can be picky as to what triggers will work with them.
LaRue mbt-2 no go. Geiselle dmr no-go. RRA 2 stage match varmint GTG!

Not a huge test but ran 19 rounds of 45gr fmj out if the bear creek 22 mag without a hitch. Optic should be here Monday. I think this will be a great coon calling gun

I cant recommend this, as i dont have one yet, but damn i think im gonna have to get one. No idea what in the hell i would use it for, but i really like lever guns and a lever action 22wmr with an 18" threaded barrel sounds pretty sweet. Be a fun little gun to shoot suppressed, especially with subsonic ammo. Whistle pigs beware! According to savage the trigger pull is 2.5lbs.
