**22x6.8 Hornady Die set and RPG Barrel Group Buy**

These are 5 grooves correct, Do 3 grooves produce more velocity than the 5s because less friction? And most likely I will be in for a set and a barrel.. Dan

Not enough to notice. Lots more things can make a difference besides that. There is some evidence they are more accurate with the extra two lands.

Yes but Nick an Ritch put this together bemuse there are so many out there that wanted and "easier" way to do it. That's why the 6X6.8 group buy was set up.

Exactly. One thing to remember with using one die body for several rifles is that the headspace/shoulder bump might not be in the same across chambers. This would mean that you would need to adjust the die position for correct headspace each time you switch from one to the next.

These group buys are meant to give folks options to decide what best suits their needs. For me, ill take a cartridge specific die over the bushings every time but that's just me.

That's how most of us did it before Midwest predator came along. It's recommended to use 2 bushings to get to 6mm and 3 to get to .22. So you would have to buy 4 bushings if you also wanted to load 6.8. If you plan on only loading 6.8 and .22 the cost of the bushings and time at the bench make the cartridge specific dies a no brainier.

If it was recommended to use 3 bushing to get to the 22 neck size then there would be a need for a 3 piece size die and one seating die I would think.. I would only need one bushing to go to the 22 size I thought.. But midwestpredator correct about die setup though for headspace... Dan

Bushing dies don't funnel the necks like a standard die. We routinely take 308 to 260 or 223 to 17 with regular dies. Going more than 0.015 to 0.020 in one pass with a bushing will ruin that case every time.

I don't know, but 25 said they wanted to buy. Have they sent their money in? I don't know but I do know I (WE) don't want to waste the effort and time Nick put into this and take a chance he may not be willing to do such a thing again.

X2

I don't think this opportunity will come again to soon, so if you are sitting on the fence, this could be your last chance!

I have 10 so far. We did have 25 votes for it just on this forum alone so I am not sure where those folks went. The whole purpose for the vote was to see which one had the most interest. I don't even have a 22x6.8 so this is just for you guys.

Also, this is one crazy deal Ritch is giving on barrels to help make this happen. I would bet money that even if we offered the dies again later the barrel option will not be there. Seriously, $375 for a wildcat barrel and customs dies is stupid cheap. Basically your getting the dies for $15!

I can understand that. What happened to your 6x6.8?

You have me down for a set? I do want one.. Also is there a time limit on that barrel price?
When buy the dies what is the time line to order the barrel at that price?? Some cant fork the cash over for both at the same time. I would think order the dies first then get the barrel afterwards at some point.. Dan

I do believe the barrels will be held off for a bit(probably several weeks) as they won't take as long as the dies. Ritch will know who is on on the dies and those folks will receive the combo price.

Yes, you are on my list.

Once the die order is finished and they are ordered Ritch will know who bellied up and put the cash down. At that point he will take orders from those guys at his previously quoted price no hurry. If it takes you a few months to scare up the cash no problem at all. The dies are what is important on this deal.
