nothin like the long range shots, my best this past fall was a whitetail at 822 yards, I have a couple mark 4's, would like to try a NF but the crb's won't deal with ya, everybody that sells them wants 1568.00 for a 5.5x22x56 NXS.

My calling partner just got a custom one built too.

He is doing load development right now on it.

Based on a LA Rem. 700 with a 1 in 7 twist barrel finished at 26 inches. Sendero profile, SS fluted barrel, RB trigger, HS stock.

Instead of going the custom route to build a .243AI, you'd get about same velocity with the .243 WSSM, which is factory caliber, and you do not have to fireform anything. Dies to reload this caliber is also reasonable ($25 to $35) and is off the shelf.

Yes, but your stuck to slower factory twists.... and lighter bullets.

Depends what you want to do with it I guess. The WSSM brass is lots more... and harder and harder to find.

Hey the 243 AI is all well and good but the mighty 6x284 is "Bad to the Bone" I can push same bullets 2 to 300 FPS faster then your 243 AI's. No fire forming either. Just purchase Norma or Lapua 6.5x284 and run them once in your 6x284 sizer die and walla there you have your wild cat cartridge.Down side if you get in a pinch and loose your ammo in the field. You'll have to throw rocks at your quarry. One more thing a Short action rifle will work just fine with the 6x284. Haven't reached my max load yet with Re#22 and 95gr Berger VLD but so far 55gr gives me 3450FPS for a bullet with a BC of .524.Plus I'm doing this with a 10"twist 26" Hart BBL. I couldn't resist I had to throw this bone into the mix! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
