Faster than normal throat erosion is not conjecture on the part of the people who write about the WSSM calibers. Winchester said it was a barrel burner and decided to chrome line the barrels before producing them for the consumer. Its common knowledge among 1000 yard shooters that they push the throat forward every time they shoot a match, and that would be less than 100 rounds.
