Ackleyman,
here are a couple of pictures of my 29 pound 243 WHITE EXPRESS that I carried during Desert Storm, and a couple of years thereafter...
Gun weight is 29 pounds with a 30" barrel 1.450" in diameter. The stock is a McMillan Bench Rest stock that was factory weighted to 10 pounds. Barrel fluting was done on a lathe and not a milling machine. The Remington bolt was modified for rim diameter of the 444 Marlin case, with a Sako extractor installed...
My 243 WHITE EXPRESS is the 444 Marlin case left full length, necked down to 6mm with minimum body taper and a 40 degree shoulder angle...
These are the steps gone through in necking the 444 Marlin case down to 6mm, and then the case after fireforming...
The scope was modified from a 6X-24X-50mm scope that had been modified to a 10X-30X with 1/8" mil dot reticles...
Here are a couple of 600 yard 5-shot groups that I shot with this rifle, shooting Sierra's 85 gr. B.T.-H.P. Game king bullets...
