Tracked down a good load for my rifle. 40.5 gr Varget 2.621 OAL 3355 fps (respectable for 20” barrel) tight group at 100 yards. -2C temp 2550 ft elevation.

Had some Accurate 3100 kicking around so tried 46 gr of it 3040 fps. Similar group but not the fps a guy would like. Might see how many grains I can fit into the case.

I loaded 39.0 grains of IMR-4895 at 3400 fps, for the Hornady 75 gr. V-Max and have had great success with DRT kills.
Gotta love the bang flop of this 243 caliber and bullet weight.

Good info there!

Once upon a time Hornady listed a 75 grain hollow point 6mm bullet. I have a Savage package gun that I bought many moons ago (before the AccuTrigger. Bolt action, synthetic stock, came with a Simmons 3-9x already mounted) that loves those bullets when they're sitting on top of a healthy load of Varget. Tiny little groups and flattens coyotes at long distances. Not too fur friendly though. Fortunately I have a bunch of them.

All this having been said, if I was going to replace that bullet it would be with the 75 grain V-Max. V-Max bullets are the bomb!

I don't shoot my 243 much or even my 6mm Rem. But if I do, I use a 55 gr varmageden in the 6 at 4200 fps that spells deflated coyote and discustingly splatered P dog. I save the bigger bullets for deer, by bigger I mean 80 gr Hammers. The six spits them out at over 3600 fps thats doom for any deer around.
