243 Win or 260 Rem?

The .260 is far more versatile imo but it does require that you be a reloader. If not a reloader then .243 would be the best because of ammo availability.
 
I don't see how you can beat a .243. Availability of quality factor ammo like the Hornady Super Performance and a wide variety of reloading options make it poison coyote and deer. I load the Sierra 70 grain Blitz King, and it crosses their eyes for them and is not bad on fur.
 
I own both in bolt guns and ar form and i would say 243 because you can hammer coyotes with 58 grain vmaxs at 3800 fps or drop deer with 95 vmaxs. Like everyone said its much easier to find good factory ammo in a variety of grains for the 243. Or you could just get both for yourself,it is almost christmas.
 
In your situation I would go with the 243, for all of the reasons listed. The 260 is great, but what you need is versatility, and commonality of a cartridge. The 243 will provide this.
 
Split the difference with a 25 Souper. Size up 243 brass to 257

I also own both, a .243 in a Ruger No.1B and a M77 in .260. There really isn't a dimes worth of difference as far as I'm concerned but if your going to shoot factory stuff for a while, go with the .243. Since I got my No.1, the .260 has stayed in the safe and so far the .243 is 5 for 5 on deer, all one shot kills just below the ear. No tracking required and a breeze to field dress.
 
I owned a 243 and 260 at the same time. Killed 2 deer with the 243. After acquiring the 260 and taking 1 deer my mind was made up to go 260. I have killed a pile of deer with the 260 and love it. I own 4 at the moment and ditched the 243. 100gr NBT at 3300fps and 120s at 2950fps. Just an excellent round. For crunching heavy bone I load up 140 Core-Lokts. I just can't put into words how much I love the 260. Too bad Remington handicapped it with a 140gr load. I load the 120 Core-Lokt and get 2900fps easily with excellent accuracy. I have killed alot of deer with this load, you could say it is my go to load for tails.
 
They r both great rounds. I've gone with the 6.5 Creedmoor and am glad I did but. I would have been real happy with the the 260 . I really want another 243 but I'll be surprised if I get one. Mainly because I like the Creedmoor more than any other round in its general class.
For me the ideal battery would be the 17 HH, 6.5 Cm, 338 RUM and 416 Remington. But I'll probly have to get used to the 416 Ruger.

There r some excellent deals on reloading kits right now. . . Whichever one you get reloading for either is very easy and straight forward. . If I couldn't reload my own ammo I don't know what I'de do. I enjoy reloading as much as I do shooting.
Plus it doesn't take long to equalize the cost. .
