243 wssm dies and brass

Looking for some ideas on what are decent dies and brass for the 243 wssm. I have mostly Lee dies, but have read some poor reviews on their 243 wssm set. Mostly problems with the full length sizer. All I need is a 2 die set. No neck sizing needed.

Thanks

I've had good results with RCBS.

The WSSM's take a lot of sizing; that is to say that the extra thick brass case is a bit hard to bring back down to SAAMI specs and sometimes require a bit of cam-over of press handle to get them to chamber.

Whatever die set you choose, adjust sizing die per instructions, size a case that has been fired in your rifle and try to chamber that (empty) case. If it chambers easily, you're good to go, but if it does not, you will need to screw die down a bit tighter and size again. Repeat until round chambers properly.

I have both the lee and RCBS, I have found the rcbs sizing die to be better than the Lee, but I like the Lee bullet seating die over the RCBS. If I were to buy just one set I would get the RCBS.

Bought a set used from a member here and he said the best sizing die for the wssm family was the Hornady with the elliptical expander (thick necks on the wssm cases)). For a seater he used the Forester BR which is my favorite also. Depending on you budget you might want to go with the Hornady 2 die set.

I shoot an AR in 25 and 243 WSSM's and use RCBS setting the shoulders back 0.002. Best advice I can give you is to go ahead and invest in a RCBS precision case mic in a WSSM 223,243, or 25. I have a 25 that I use for the 243 also. Measure a new case and set your FL die to cam over to 0.002 past that.

It comes as a 2 piece kit, half for measuring the resized case and measuring case overall length. To measure the case, drop a new case or a factory load into the bottom half of case and screw the top half down measuring from the shoulder of the case to the head of the case. After setting your FL die and resizing a case, drop it in the mic and measure it. Repeat this process until the shoulders are set back to at least factory specs. or in my case and most preferred 0.002 less than factory.
