25/06 Ammo

I like 90 grain hollow point Winchester for coyotes in a factory ammo. Then again it might be wise to try several and let your gun pick.

Whatever your gun shoots most accurately! None of the 25-06 rounds are going to be "fur friendly". It really depends what you want from the gun/bullet. If this rifle will double as a big game rifle, shoot your "big game load" and get accustomed to it. Personally I use my 25-06 when I want to do one of two things, guarantee a DRT on problem/spring time coyotes or, as I'm trying to do now with my hand loads, cut a coyote in half. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif In short, ANY factory round you find will kill a coyote, with authority. The only ones I'd stay away from are anything with a FMJ (I've never seen a 25-06 factory FMJ though), but I'd stay away from them for hunting in ANY caliber.

87 gr speer hollow points are like grenades on foxes! NOT fur friendly, completely destroyed him on a shoulder shot. Id try the lowest grain you can find and dont load them heavy if your lookin to keep the hides. I ruined a very nice red this winter before I found this website and started learning more about this type of stuff. Great bunch of guys here! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowingsmilie.gif

I have had a lot of suuccess using my deer rounds, 117 gr Nosler partitions. Every one shot, only 4-5 at this point, with this was DRT and as little fur damage as I could expect. Entrance the size of the bullet and exit about a half dollar. Ranges were 30 - 200 yds.
