.25-06 /or/ .308 ????? Got a decision to make.

you made a good choice. I did not mean to offend you with the use your dad's gun thing, but I use mine fathers rifle now and again. I do however have my grandfathers knife, that he gave me when I turned 12 in the safe. If I lost it, I do not know how I'd feel. If you load, a good starting point, would be 51 grains of IMR-4350 with a 100 grain Sierra Flat Base. Good Luck
 
I have the exact 25-06 rifle you brought Hildago. You will love it. I beleive 25-06 is a wonderful multi purpose guns. That Ruger is too heavy to lug thru the wood but you will be surprised how well it works out of a tree stand.

When I deer hunt I always carry my 25WSM or the 25-06, just incase I need to reach out.
