Sounds like your buds are a bit jealous. Keep the 25-06, it is a great round. I have taken several mountain goats, Dall Sheep, caribou, sitka blacktails and rocky mountain elk with it and it is my go to rifle for hunting just about everything. Pull out some ballistic charts and really shoot them down.
25 06 or a 260 for deer hunting

260 will not drop deer as fast as a 25-06, extra velocity the 25 generates gives it a bit more shock, not to mention a little more pop.
the deer i shot this year with a 260 seemed to drop at the blink of an eye... dead on impact... cant drop them much faster than that...
