Anybody shooting a 25-284 win? I picked up a neat little rifle from a buddy it is a Rem 600 with a 22" shilen fluted stainless barrel. I can't wait to shoot it. Anyone have any favorite loads or powder recomendations??? thanks Robbie

I have one built on a rem 700 action. Norma Brass, BR2 primers, 100 Nosler BT and H4831SC powder. Great whitetail medicine last year. When I get home and pull my exact data I will let you know.

My shooting/hunting partner had one for alittle while. He had a load of H-4350 and a 75 grain V-Max he used for a rockhcuck load. If I remember correctly his load used 2 or 3 grains less powder for the same velocity as my standard 25-06 load.

I watched him whack a couple of deer with the 100 grain Gamekings. That bullet came apart too soon at these velocities, reminiscent of a varmint bullet.

He's bored it out to a .257 Weatherby now.

The 284 Winchester case holds 92 grains of water, and the 30-06 case holds 95 grains of water, so I think velocities from each will be very close, with the same bullets. I look at the 25-284 as a short action 25-06.
I have a 284 Winchester custom rifle that is far more accurate than I ever dreamed it would be. It's a heavy rifle with bull barrel I had made for long range Deer and Varmint shooting. I was just looking at a target I shot with it yesterday; three shots all cutting the same hole at 100 yards. Not too shabby.

My 23" M700 in 25-284 runs moly 75gr V-max's at 3,700 with RL15. That also happens to be the most accurate load so far. I plan on killing something this fall with mine, either by the 100grTSX or 110grAccubond. I'm still tinkering with loads for those two bullets, and I'm trying IMR4350, IMR4831, and RL22.

Hey Rod, next time you are headed south,, hollar and lets meet up. Have you gotten dies for the 25-284 yet.

Oh and i used Lapua brass, not Norma. Still havent found my load data but as said, just use standard 25-06 data and you will be good to go.

I got dies, ammo and a couple hundred rounds of brass in the deal. It is a pretty neet gun and I mite get to shoot it tomorrow.Hopefully. thanks for all the information, maybe by this time tomorrow I can tell you how good it shoots. My buddy said I will be very pleased with the way it shoots.
