250-3000 savage load help

What rifle is it? Some of the early rifles had slow twist rates that don't like the longer heavier bullets. My Savage M99 has the 1-14 twist and won't shoot the 100 grain bullets that well, especially the ones with the plastic tips. It does very well with 87s and 75s, I use the 87 grain Speer Hot Core bullet for deer with great performance.
The 250 isn't that picky about powders, I've used H4895, Varget, RL-15, 4320, and Big Game in both of mine.

I have often loaded 243s with 85-87gr bullets over 37gr-37.5 gr IMR4064.

The same bullet weights with the same powder charge will also work well in the .250 Savage.

I'd try 37gr 4064 with an 87gr bullet. OR, 35.5 gr. 4895 with same bullet........

I mainly use the lighter bullets in my Ruger and IMR-3031 has always been a favorite of mine. I got my load from the Sierra manual, IMR-4320 is also a powder you might want to look at.
