That sounds like more work than its worth and would probably result in a shorter barrel due to having to set the barrel back to get past the freebore.
As for brass I suggest you just spend the money and do it right. I tried resizing seven mag brass but it resulted in more work than I wanted. Necks needreaming and they shot well while using new brass just run through the sizer die when I went to load them a second time results were entirely different. I am sure accuracy could be found but I decided to go back to factory norma brass.
Cabelas is the only place I know where you can get just 50 pieces so wait for a coupon and jump. There is also some factory loaded ammo now available for 30-35 a box which is about the same as buying empty brass
Good luck and remember you bought a weatherby caliber nota 270win so dont be cheap

Also what brass are you guys using? Midway has Norma for $145! That is pretty steep, but if its worth it I'll buy it.
I had a 257Wby build for my nephew and here the spec. Used a Shilen 1/9 twist barrel no Wby freebore and headspace was set on the shoulders not the belt and I had it set up for the 115gr and heavier bullets. You can go back to some reloading manuals that give a warning about backing the loads down with custom throating some say 5% I started at 10% below max load and I used Wby brass. I could get in the mid 3400fps with 115gr bullets using 3/4gr less powder than a Wby chamber rifle and it do in the .3's @ 100yds 3 shot groups and I just cleaned up the necks.
Building a rifle without the Wby freebore has been around a long time was a good article about that in one of Ackley's books. My gunsmith won't do one unless he marks on the barrel not for Wby ammo and he made a good point if something happened to the owner and family sold that rifle.
The 257Wby was the second Wby I had done by the same gunsmith without the Wby freebore first one was a 300Wby and I have a 3rd one in the works be a 270Wby and should be getting that soon using a Rock Creek barrel.
I'm not into rechambering so don't have any experience in having that done. Well good luck
i picked up 20 pieces of weatherby brass today and now i'm looking for some load data for both light weight varmint bullets and heavier hunting weight, for whitetail, mule deer and antelope. Is it true that norma makes Weatherby brass?
