25x45 barrels cheap!

The 6x45 barrel arrived yesterday. I gave it a close inspection and everything looked good. Mounted it up last night and snuck out to the range at lunch today. It was the warmest it is supposed to be for 4-5 days. Yep, a balmy 10 degrees. I only took ten rounds with me and I was able to get close to the bullseye and do a little tuning with 5 rounds. I shot the last 5 for a group. Because it was 10 degrees and I was on my lunch break. I shot off my mirror instead of setting up the bench. Inch and a quarter group. I know I can cut that way down by shooting off the bench and tayloring the ammo for the barrel as this is ammo I had loaded for another rifle. I'm happy with my purchase!

I opted not to order. The free shipping doesn't apply to Alaska which I said was okay. How much to ship I asked. When they said $48 I bowed out. I have bought a lot of guns over GB and sold several through various forums. It's rare to spend that much to ship a whole gun to or from Alaska. I bought a huge tapered octagon rifled 12 bore barrel that weighed several pounds and it only was only $12 to ship.

Try calling back and asking someone else for shipping options. That is ridiculous.

My barrel showed up on the 23rd, but nobody told me it arrived. I saw it in the cardboard tube under my desk. I assumed it was another empty christmas wrapping paper tube the kids had been sword fighting with.

That was from a phone call. When I first tried to order, the site said no shipping options exist for that address. I called and they quoted me the $48.

So whats an a-30?
what kind of bullets ? 308 i reckon, but weight works, velocity ?
Can you just size up the 223 case or is it X39 cases,
Might have to jump on this, 6.8 is what?
made from what case, same bolt size?

It's a lengthened 30 Herrett done on a 68 case. The American 30 is about 150 fps faster than a 30-30. Ritch designed it and he and I worked on load development. It has killed several mule deer in eccess of 300 yards. It is barely below the 30 Remington AR and stomps every small capacity cartridge in 308 chambered commercially by a fair margin.

Numbers off the top of my head are 110 at 2850. 125 at 2650 and 150 at 2500 or so but I haven't reviewed them in a while. Shoot me a PM for more information.

Varminter 223 bought a close out 16" 6x45 unit and it shoots great. By the time I saw the light they only had 25x45 barrels left. On paper it should shoot a 70 grain bullet within 200 fps of my 6x6.8 with 4"less barrel. Varminter 223 and I just got our 18" 1:9 25x45 barrels early this week but have been struggled with fliers. They will pack 3 or 4 in a group and throw 1 or 2 way out. We have tried xterminator, aa2200 and cfe blk with 70 blitx, 75 vmax, and 75 Sierra HP. Cfe blk is giving 3100 or more with 70s and 75s with room to go up. We are using 450 primers but some research shows they are not needed. Might try some 7.5s

Does anyone have any good coyote loads worked up for these BHW 25x45 barrels yet?

I have been shooting the 25x45 for quite a while now and I just saw this thread and purchased several barrels. Just a great price......

Will buy more on payday

I will, the barrels have shipped.

I have one of the first 25x45 barrels BHW made long ago it has been an absolute great barrel. I have well over 4k rounds (stopped counting when it reached that area) through it.

I did not know there was a potential "Quality" issue. One of the things I had always liked about BHW was the quality was outstanding, this is the first I heard of it.

I know I am wanting to have them cut an AR10 barrel for me in 25 Souper AI and a 25x6.8 in an AR15 platform.

My 14y/o son and I are presently doing a 300BO build and then I was going work on another 25x45 in carbine length playing with reduced loads for suppressor work.

I purchased one in 6x45. Shoots just fine.

I got one of the the 25/45 barrels and I have never seen a barrel that shot worse. An unrifled steel pipe could probably give my barrel some solid competition in the accuracy department.

arminter 223 and I bought the 18" 1:9. They were both around 1" with 70s and aa2200. That was only about 2900 fps. Not the 3100 like advertised. I sold my barrel. Shot fine just not fast enough for me. it shots 87s around 1.25" but like say you had to slow them down.

Do you still have the barrel?
