26 Nosler? Wow ... this looks intriguing.

This looks interesting. A 6.5 on steroids, perhaps?

Pretty BOLD claims from the Nosler website:

The .26 Nosler cartridge was designed to take advantage of the inherently accurate and high B.C. 6.5mm (.264) caliber bullets, and is capable of shooting the Nosler 129 grain, AccuBond Long Range bullet at a blazing 3400 fps out of the muzzle. Zeroed at 350 yards, the .26 Nosler has a Point Blank Range of 0-415 yards. Loaded with the 129 grain ABLR, the .26 Nosler retains as much velocity at 400 yards as the 260 Remington produces at the muzzle.

I just compared the 26 Nosler brass to the 264 Win Mag brass. They are very close in overall size but the 26 Nosler has a larger diameter at the shoulder and a sharper angle at the shoulder.

I am getting to where I don't like recoil so I think I will just stick with my 260 Rem. LOL

Same here Bob. Anything with more punch than my Creedmoor is uncomfortable for me anymore. But they're fun to look at.

I to be in much the same shape as others here. A very interesting cartridge but, it's going to burn a bunch of powder, recoil a bit, show up packaged in an expensive rifle, need very expensive brass and still rarely be fired at anything over 300 yards. I just don't shoot that far. I love 264 caliber cartridges but think I'll give this one a pass.

A very interesting development, I read about the .26 Nosler about a year ago and my prediction is that this one is going to be around for a while.

Weather or not it's that much different from or superior to a 264 Win Mag, 257 Weatherby Mag, etc, sometimes new is just new and that's enough.

This is just for those guys that like to shoot out to 350 with out dialing, (Got to shoot fast and Flat).

I prefer lighter recoil and to dial out to whatever range I need. Oh and to shoot a lot.

Ammo runs $64 for 20 that alone would make me look at something else.
The 26N has not impressed me at all since it came out w/all the "greatest" round ever for 100-400 yds...NOT

I'm happy with my 6.5x47 Lapua. A 130 at 2850 is plenty for what I do. It has a CDS for a reason. If rather use trajectory than get beat up on the bench.

A local gunsmith/LGS owner just built a rifle for this chambering. Last time I talked to him he was having a hard time actually hitting the numbers that Nosler was advertising, and he was using a 30" barrel. After looking at the case, I think they should have put a little more neck length on it.

But that's just me.

Sounds to me like a modern version of the .264 Win Mag....I have one of those in a pre-64 model 70...the barrel is still good, but it doesn't get shot much...I shoot my .270 a lot more and don't worry about scorching a barrel. I am a solid 300 yard and closer guy

"Zeroed at 350 yards, the .26 Nosler has a Point Blank Range of 0-415 yards."

I have had a hard time swallowing this statement. IMO its BS
Zeroed at 100 yds its -17.4 @ 400yds. How can they claim flat out to 416 yds. What a crock...

It's new and I've seen how a lot of people on here flock to whatever is new. Darn that cartridge does use some powder.

Indiana is considering allowing rifles next year for deer, and I kid you not I spoke to a guy today that said he was going to build one of these 26 Noslers if they pass the law. Like Indiana is known for 400yd.shots on deer.

So yep whatever the newest eargensplittenloudenboomer is people gotta have it.

Not only that, many other rounds will do the same.
Heck I can hold on fur to 400 yds w/my .243 and do the same.
IMO its a new re-hash on the 264 win mag.
