I've had a .260 for a while now and by far the best bullet I've used is the Nosler partition. The 129 Hornady was the second best and a lot more affordable. For the amount of ammo I actually shoot hunting I can can get about 5 Years out of a box of 50 Noslers and that includes sighting in!

I've been running the Berger 140 HVLD's .005 off lands behind 42gr of h-4350 which happens to push them out at 2885fps. Super accurate load!! I've done load work up for 140 amax, 140 accubonds and I'd love to try the 130 bergers
 
I cant say enough about the the 260 Rem and the 143 Hornady ELD-X. Out of my R700 with a 26" hart select 1:8 over 42.3gr of H4350 im going 2775 with a SD of 5.

Killed a 200 pound black bear this October with it, One shot, at 100 yards, full pass, ran about 15 yards then piled up dead.

Shot a 850 pound bull moose in mid October, one shot, double lung, lead pass though wile jacket got hung up on exiting skin. Took about 5 steps then fell on his face.

Last wekk I shot a 246 pound 8 point whitetail at 458 yards. Dialed 7.75 MOA up, no wind, DRT high shoulder, full pass. (first time in my life ive ever had a TRUE DRT. He just hit the ground on the spot)

This is the last hunting rifle I will own. 260 rem does it all. Being able to spot my shots and such a predictable trajectory, combined with very high SD bullets make this a winner all around for me.

Being a Mountain rifle, I don't expect 1/4 inch groups. Its sole purpose will be a light weight deer rifle. I do hope to tighten the groups up a little though.
 
This is an area where the 260 Remington really shines. Even in a lightweight rifle and has very minimum recoil with the trajectory of a 300 Win Mag. Plus you have an effective killing distance farther than most people are more than likely utilize. In all fairness the same can be said for the 6.5 Creedmoor.

What rifle?
 
Get some 243 Brass of your choice then neck up to 260 ,
1 pass thru a 260 fl die and shoot it.
Lapua Brass is tops.
W/W Brass will need weight sorting.
 
243 brass is longer than 260 and needs trimming first. Not a big deal but it is longer. 7mm08 is the same length. A friend gave me some new WW 7mm08 to try. Its a mountain rifle strictly for hunting. I really didn't want to invest in Lapua. If I ever re-barrel with a custom tube, I might use better brass then.
 
I have 8-9 firings on my Lapua brass. The primer pockets are still tight. I anneal every third firing, but I'm about to start annealing every time.

Lapua brass will last you a long time.
 
Hornady Amax 123gr, W 760. Am working up load using Superformance powder using 6.5 Creedmore data as starting point. Have yet to find any data for 260 Rem loading with Superformance. Merry Xmas everyone.

I read that earlier today. Some of the velocities are alot more than what the books list. I'm not sure I agree with all of it but all barrels are not created equal.

You have that with anything like this. That is why you need to approach loads carefully and use the recommended book max as the upper limit. Some people push the limit with whatever they do. As for me, all of my stuff is max or under and velocities are from my Pro Chrono.
 
130 bergers work excellent on elk. I saw 5 go down with that bullet this year. I would guess they should work equally well on deer. 1 .260 and 4 6.5x47L. Same velocity from 200- 650yds. No bang flop just bang and wobble and then down. No shoulder shot's trying to save meat.
 
Can't say enough good about the 260 and SHAME on Remington for not promoting it and developing the heavy high B.C. factory loads. If so there would never have been a creedmore!

Ok for an AMAZING accurate hunting load that also would be right at home banging steel at ELR.....

Hornady 143 ELD-X
Lapua brass
Federal gold medal match primer
42.3 grains of H4350

Same load substituting the 140 ELD-M for matches.

If you can't afford Lapua buy Winchester 7mm08 brass. Once through the die and rock on.....
