Thinking of letting my 30-06 sit in the safe this year and deer hunting with a .270 Win.

Considering the size of our white-tail just about any bullet oughtta get the job done but what bullet do you guys like in your 270s? Im thinking about running the 130g SGK, but I have very, very limited experince with the .270 and wanted some input from you guys first.

Thanks

Seat that 130 gr. Sierra GK over a dose of H4831 in a quality handload and you're set. I've killed whitetail deer, antelope, and mule deer with the .270 Winchester and the 130 gr. Sierra & Hornady, the 140 gr. Sierra HPBT-GK, and the 150 gr. roundnose Core-Lokt. Easy cartridge to shoot and kills critters at least as dead as anything else - lol.

Accurate and dependable.

X2, I found that H4831 works in some rifles as well as 4350

130 gr bullet is a good choice, H4831 is the go to Powder for .270 with IMR4350 being a good alternative in the rare cases where 4831 doesn't give the desired results.

I have used my 270 on many coyotes, mule deer and elk. I loaded up 130gr bullets over H4831 with great accuracy. I have also used IMR4350, but H4831 was better in my rifle. Good luck

Same here brother, 130gr. game kings over H4831SC.By the way, I'm taking good care of that little markl you sold me. Great little gun, I love it.

After shooting a 270 since the 70's with Sierra 130g flat base, I tried some 110g Sierra Pro hunters with a load of 58g of 760 and the load shot 1/2" groups right out of the gate at 3350.

Then I was conversing with an internet friend that was using R#17 with a Fed 215 mag primer and was getting less than 1/2" groups at 3550 with the 110g Barnes Tripple shocks.

I tried the R#17 and 57g was shooting 3500 fps and printing 1 1/2" groups at 300 yards...talking about flat shooting!

I stuck the Sierra's in with the same load and was shooting Clover leaf groups at 100 yards...I'm done!

I have always loaded 150 grain Partitions. Makes it an all around Rocky Mountain hunter! If I was hunting deer only might go to a 130 partition. The 150s have always done well for me with RL19.

So, Has no one tried the Burger Hunting VLD bullets. I have a .270 but have not started reloading for it yet. Not sure that I need to, it shoots pretty good. I have a Remington 700 BDL Stainless "lefty" I get 1-1/2 Groups at 100 yards with factory ammo. Mostly 150gr.

i dont load just to make it shoot "better", but to be able to shoot cheaper. my 7mag would rum me 60 bucks for a box of premiums like i load. and its relaxing to me too.
also the bergers have been very COL finicky with me in the rifles ive tried, 7 rem mag, 204 and 308. theyve all liked a good jump to the lands. if you get them to shoot good they do kill well. i took a ferral hog about 275lbs here a week ago with a 168gr berger in my 7 mag for a guy to use for lion bait
