.270 wsm for dedicated coyote rifle?

I'm wanting to absolutly SMOKE the 110 vmaxes for coyotes and I think that this caliber would be the ticket without going to a longer action Weatherby rifle. Does anybody use this combo for coyotes. I reload and do skin coyotes but have a .17 remington for most situations. I hunt in wide open flats and don't always get the jump on the coyotes. I do call too maybe just wanting to justify getting a longer range "thumper". I'm not all opposed to custom barreling in the future, and don't care about barrel life as I want big performance. Thanks to everyone who can fill my head with details of what to expect.

Your really looking for a hot shooter. I use my 280 Remington when I want to get some shooting practice in prior to hunting season.

You might to give some thought to putting a muzzle brake on that monster to reduce some of the recoil and help with watching your shots.

I've got a friend that shoots coyotes a 7mm STW with lighter bullets just for giggles. He enjoys the dickens out of this, but his loads are certainly not fur friendly. His has a muzzle brake and recoil is simular to my 243.

Do you reload? If so, and you want a long range Coyote gun that will put the smack down on Coyotes, why not the 6.5 x 284. It will do anything you want it to do out to 1000 yards.

I have been using a 243 wssm and love it. I use 55g win balistic tips with no pelt damage. the round is very fast and flat and can be used for deer with a bigger grain bullet.

Not a .270 wssm, but my Remington 700 .270 Winchester is absolutely deadly with Speer 100 grain hollowpoints. It'll shoot 1/2" groups all day long. However, I can't imagine that you'll do anything with the pelt. It'll leave an exit wound the size of your fist.

I often feel the need for speed too and one of my favorites is a 7mm Short Action Ultra Mag with 120gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

This baby can put the SERIOUS SMACK DOWN on a coyote and it's fun with a whole lot less recoil than a "regular deer rifle". /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I like your idea of the 270WSM and think you should go for it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

I have a win .270 have much damage would that do to the pelt. I shoot 130 softpoints for deer. Would they be too much for a yote. Would 150 blow right through them? Hunting in PA close to long range.
