270 WSM

I just bought a 270 wsm browning A-bolt with the BOSS. it looks like a real nice gun I was looking therw my 2 realoading books and the 270wsm isn't listed Could you guys give me some good pointers oh where to start with my loads. I'l be using it for deer off and on. My primary gun is a browning bar .300mag and I really like that too.

The "Short Magnum" family of cartridges is so new that most reloading books don't yet have all the new data printed. One way to get the information is to continue to use your computer and the web for recommendations from the manufacturers of reloading supplies like Hodgdons, Sierra, etc.
And a good search of topics here at PM should bring up some recommendations--as should this post

Good Shooting....Good Hunting

From the Hornady 6th Edition:

110 grain Hornady HP / COL: 2.720 / H4350 53.8 - 60.1 grs
130 grain Hornady SP / COL: 2.735 / R-19 51.6 - 61.5 grs
140 grain Hornady BTSP / COL: 2.755 / R-19 53.9 - 61.7 grs
150 grain Hornady SP / COL: 2.765 / R-19 53.9 - 60.5 grs

There ya go!

One of the better loads in my custom 270wsm so far is 63gr IMR 4350 with Hornady 130gr Interbonds. I've only begun to play with this rifle so far though, and have over 90 rounds loaded in several variations yet to try. Please work your way up cautiously before trying the above load, as this should go without saying---2MG

Like 2muchgun, I'm getting the best results with IMR4350.
I'm using the 140gr Nosler Accubond and the 110gr Hornady Vmax. Both loads shoot very well using the IMR4350.

If you're a Barnes shooter just send them an email and they'll send you some data. That's what I did for my dad's .270 WSM. I also extrapolated based on some available .300 WSM data and .270 Wthby. Obviously I started quite low and worked up. I found my best accuracy with 140 grain TSXx and H1000. 90 grain Sierra HPs work wonders over Varget.

Go to Hodgdon's web page and they list a bunch of loads for the 270 wsm. Her is a link to it.

www.hodgdon.com

Click on the data tab then click on the rifle tab and you will have all kinds of calibers show up. Click on 270 wsm and there are at least 20 load listings.

Hornady 6th as them all. One load is a 140 gr Nos. BT using 60grs of RL-19 Fed 215 M primer OAL 2.830" Check this in your rifle first for OAL as you have a magazine in that rifle. Also, treat this as a max load and work up to see what you get.
