280 ballistics

I just bought a rebarreled Winchester in a 280. I was wondering if anyone had some info on some ballistics on it. Im thinking about shooting 180 gr berger's but im not sold on it yet. Im gonna try and shoot 1000 yds and maybe a little deer/varmit. What kind of powder? i was thinking vihta-vouri but now sure. Any help would be appreciated.

All I have is my Hodgdon manual handy and it's showing anywhere from 2500-2700fps with 175gr SFT SP's but that's with a 1:10 twist and a barrage of different Hodgdon powders.
Others may do better, but as xphunter said...(depending on your twist) you may want to chose either the 168 Berger (if your interested in the VLD) or something else in the 165-175gr range bullet.

ok...i heard a lot of guys are shooting the 180 gr berger out of their 7 mag and they really like it. Im open to suggestions. Im going to play with a bunch of different loads until i find one that i like. Im just trying to find some info on peoples experiences with different variables. I have always been intrigued by the 280 caliber just never owned one. Now that i have one im eager to shoot it to see what kind of range i can get out of it. Powder wise im thinkin vihta-vouri 160. Have any of you guys used this powder? ive heard nothing but good things about it.

i hada winchester laredo 7mmmag. no break. too much kick with a 180. son in law won a 1000 yard match with it with 168's. no need for an 8 twist . 9 will do it. i would try h-4350 first in it. lot of threads on the 280 on 24hourcampfire too.

I've got 2 .280's and I shoot h-4350, but I have only shot 140 up to the 168's. I love that caliber, Ive killed coyotes, deer, bear, and several elk with it!
