280 rem rebarrel would you do it to this rifle

If this was your gun would you put a heavy barrel on this gun.I love bull barrels but this gun is so pretty. I hate to butcher it what do you guys think.
It is a rem 700 mountain with det mag and the gloss stock.For some reason I can't get the pic to post.

what do you intend to do with the rifle? Walking around hunting rifle, or sitting it a blind rifle or other use?

are you rebarreling back into a 280 or looking for another cartridge?
 
I think you would be better off selling the mtn rifle and buying another fat tube rifle. That or just leave it. Theyre too handy to chop up, jmo. A Mtn rifle in 280 would move quick.

I guess I am the opposite. I do not like heavy barrels unless they are in beefy stocks, which the mt. rifle stock certainly is not.

My answer would be "no", I wouldn't do it. Anything larger than a Remmy mag. contour would be too much IMO.....
 
Well I would be just using the action.New stock,barrel and yes keeping it 280.Shooting it and maybe hunting with it.No weight does not bother me.
