2900 fps .308 ?

NONYA, I was just looking at the ballistic tables for different .308 bullets. I found that you can use the 155gr Nosler Custom Competition HPBT with a BC of .450 at 2800-2900fps and actually get better performance than the 168gr with a BC of .462 moving at 2600fps. It shows that there will be less drop out to 800yds, more energy, and slightly less deflection from the wind. Just something to think about...I have some on order right now. I'll post some info when they arrive.

That's over the edge of 'not a good idea'. Hard on barrel life and brass life, and in the wrong gun, your life. Talk about flattened primers!

If you want to send a pill of that weight down range at that speed, pick up a .300 WSM.

one of the HS Precision rifles with a 26" barrel chronos at just under 2800 with federal gold medal match 168 grainers. So its not beyond the relm of possiblities. Alot of velocity has to do with the individual barrel.
