Here is his e-mail address:

When I ordered mine They took my address and sent the video and I sent them a check upon recieving the video.

River Runner How much was the video when you got it. I would be very interrested in it. The furs here this year are looking fair and I might try to put up a few to sell. I have an itch for a new gun and it would be an easy way to obtain one. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Well... maybe not easy but ya know! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Would you call me a liar if I told you I've never seen that video, James?
ok...here goes, "I've never seen that video" /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

..and yes it takes me more then two minutes to skin one. At the rate I'm draggin em outta the timber up here I got plenty of time for skinning, you know what I'm sayin? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Send snow!

Has anyone seen this video, I'm wondering if it is worth the money, I have skinned over a hundred coyotes,so I knowmhow to skin one. I just wonder if there is somthing in this video that would make it go faster/ easier.
Thanks

Well butter my buns and call me a biscuit!!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I wasn't paying attention when I posted that lol. I'll try it again ...

Merle. (Notice I put the right name this time /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif ) How much was that video when you got it ????? Sorry for the confusion /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif >>>>>>>>James L.

James Lindley,
The video cost $25.00 plus postage if I remember correctly. The video picture quality is marginal
But the education is first class and yes he really does skin coyotes in less than 2 minutes right before your eyes. In fact he does it twice for you. John-Henry didn't believe it until he saw the video. Now he recomends it also. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have that two minute coyote video and can tell you that this video is worth it's weight in gold if you are gonna skin large numbers of coyotes. It does take a rather large space in your garage or other building to setup the way he does it. I guess that you could setup in that manner outdoors but boy it is gonna get cold and nasty in most area's that have well furred coyotes. The man skins his coyotes horizontal across a table, which means most of the blood drips down onto the table instead of all over the fur like it does when skinning vertical.

Ive had that video for about 10 years, its poor quality but I think it was done in the 80's with a home video cam. My setup is just like his and for me it is way faster to skin like that if you are case skinning. I even built a set up so I can skin like that from the back of my truck. It is worth the cash if you want to do a lot of skinning.

When does he start the clock? Is it after he has the wench hooked up or after the first initial cuts or what? An ex fur buyer friend of mine had watched the video and had a set up like his. He thought it was much faster than the manual way of doing it but from the floor to the fleshing beam I would beat him every time. I have not seen the video so I don’t know if my friend was doing it right or just not doing it as fast but he lost valuable time getting everything tied down and in place. I will say that it is a slick method and that it would work better on coyotes that were not warm but if you shoot your coyotes and not trap them you are going to have to deal with holes quite often. I saw him nearly rip a coyote into with his contraption.

Thanks.

Q,

That is the drawback of that sytem, if you have a gutshot yote or its shot high in the hip or anything that pretty near tears a lot of meat up your going to have problems sometimes. That hand winch can tear it right in two if your not careful.Ive done it, what a mess.My problem is I have trouble skinning and pulling the hide over the chest area, thats always been tough for me so I went to the winch method. If everything goes right you can get very fast, but it takes me about 10 minutes to do one anyway. He starts the clock after he gets it hooked up, which is nothing more than sticking the hooks thru the back leg tendons. He does do a different initial cut, that is instead of cutting along the fur line down to the anus, he cuts straight across to the other leg and then makes two cuts straight down on either side of the genitals to the tail.

Tracy,
You'll be glad you bought that video if you do get one. It is definately very instructional, and Roy is a real nice guy. If you have any problems or questions concerning skinning animals, he will answer them, just give him a call. I had problems last year skinning raccoons and called him and he was happy to help.
My first coyote wasn't a two minute yote, more like a 10x2 minute coyote. Still came out with a great looking skin.
If I remember correctly, the cost was like $40. But to me it was worth it. I watch prior to the start of each trapping season, just to refresh myself.
Good luck this year with the fur.

Thanks alot Carl it sounds like it is well worth the money, mine is one order. Thanks to all who responded and good luck this season.
Tracy
