2nd Ar trigger?

I put a new rifle together stag arms lower with timney 3#, a1 upper with 17 rem shilen tube. Problem gun runs auto at the range is this a spring, buffer or a trigger issue? ( not a piston gun) Thanks.
 
Did you adjust anything on the trigger prior to, or after, installing it. This is definitely a trigger issue, nothing to do with the buffer etc...



Note: A function check should be performed each time the rifle is reassembled or any time there is a doubt as to whether the selector lever and rifle are functioning properly.

* THE FOLLOWING CHECKS ARE PERFORMED ON UNLOADED RIFLES *
SAFE
Pull the charging handle to the rear and release. Place the selector on SAFE. Pull the trigger, and the hammer should not fall.
SEMI
Place the selector on SEMI. Pull the trigger and hold to the rear. The hammer should fall. Continue to hold the trigger to the rear, pull the charging handle to the rear, and release it, Release the trigger with a slow, smooth motion until the trigger is fully forward. The hammer should not fall. Pull the trigger. The hammer should fall.

If this test fails and you are uncomfortable/unsure making adjustments, please have the rifle inspected by a competent gunsmith.
 
Performed safety check after assembly and just did again works properly during dry fire. Was wondering if 17 rem would require any mods beause of higher velocity/ lighter 25 gr bullets?
 
If you don't know what you are looking for, call Timney. As said above, definitely a trigger issue. A couple of things can cause this, but many times it has to do with the disconnect.
 
Crashdog you sparked my memory when you mentioned the disconnect. I went back through my build box and found my timney instru. At the bottom " if you find the trigger seems to be doubling( firing more than one round each time you pull the trigger) heat small screw in disconnector and turn ccw.Thanks for the push.
 
Sorry widow maker 223 you and c.d. are correct. I built the gun several years ago and it shot great firing singles while load development. Then decided to change scope, put away a year save for scope put new scope on sight in single shots than load three first time bam bam bam.
 
My DPMS came from the factory with the issue of it doing a two round and once even a 3 round burst at the range. I have just the stock trigger. I contacted them and they took care of it and said it was the disconnect that was the problem. Since then it's been great ever since.
 
Be careful who notices it firing "auto" or "burst" at the range. Without the proper permits, you will go to jail if someone turns you in. Even if it is a weapons malfunction. Just an FYI.
