Edited to add some details…

First set was a spot I couldn’t get to all season for the snow. Kind of a hike, got there, set out caller and wind shifted hard in the wrong direction. Just then a group opened up in the worst possible spot direction wise. No sense blowing the set so packed up without ever calling. 😡

Scored on 2 of 4 sets made. Had vocal responses on 3 of them.

Second set, another hike in about 500 yards. Tiny female came in Silent. Boone Lone Whine Howls followed by BooRoo Pair Howls then a little Submissive Beggar did the trick.

Third set, yes… another hike in. 700-800 yards to get to spot I needed to get to. Chunky bred female. Coyotes Fired off a good ways off to Cal Taylor’s Lonesome Me followed by Where You At. Tried working on them for a good bit without them budging. Got them going a couple times. Decided to try to get closer on another property from the opposite side of where they were. Packed up and got about 30 yards when a single challenged from a different location and closer. I hustled back to where I was and scanned without seeing anything. Blew a few challenge howls on my Varmints Inc Micro Howler and scanned to see a single working in fast. She was trying to get the wind but thankfully lots of standing water in the field kept her from doing so. Barked her to a stop around 100 where the water ended and dumped her.

I did leave and did the setup I intended to make and got some fired up again. This was an easier setup, only had to go about 350 yards to get where I wanted to be. Worked them for about half an hour and they wouldn’t budge. Played some FP Female Challenge Howls followed by Tony Tebbe Border War. Things got quiet so I figured I was dealing with some young ones. I didn’t even close out with Pup Distress. I was shot and being a work night and getting late I started heading for the truck when I hear aggressive challenges coming from a location closer than the ones I had been working on. Should have gone silent and hung out longer! I decided to keep heading for the truck.

Great night out overall. About time! Glad the snow has finally disappeared enough to actually hunt effectively!

Congrats! I've had a couple of sets where I expect a certain wind and for some reason I get another when I've trekked half way to a spot. Kind of irritating and I've gone ahead and made a stand accounting for the wind. It's never worked out; should follow your lead and cut my loses.

It was a perfect wind until it wasn’t! Lol… I had no way to make it work that I was comfortable with so knowing they are there, it’s best to save the spot for the right conditions. If I don’t have a good wind I cut my losses in hopes of a better payout in the future.

Come on Bob, confess, there's not enough snow in those pictures to be where you live. .....or maybe they're from last May :ROFLMAO:.
It went away pretty quickly, Don. Not gonna lie… I don’t miss it! Lol. Still got some on north facing slopes and in the woods, but it’s at least manageable now. One of my properties has a shallow creek that I have to cross. Not so shallow right now! Gonna let that settle before I hit it.

Heading out again tonight to see what kind of trouble I can get into. 66 degrees right now. Winds are out of the south which narrows down my choices, but I have a couple spots in mind. Gonna try to be home before 2AM tonight! Working on 3 hours sleep but gotta make up for lost time!

Yeah, here too, today especially. 70* today and supposedly better than that tomorrow. Waited to long to retrieve one of my cell cameras I have on a tree out in the lake. I'll need a boat to get it now as the ice is going fast.

Good luck. Hope you make out I know what those dry spells feel like.

Glad someone has dropped some dogs in NY state.
Foggy mess Friday, rained out Sat and Sunday we didn't see or hear anything but house dogs.
I added some Bustin fur sounds to the X24 and tried different stand locations to break up the pattern.

It’s been a tough season for sure shoots. Fog was insane during the melting stages but it’s calmed down here.

What a difference a day makes! I had a good night Sunday into Monday. Hit it hard again last night (Monday) and only called in a pair of Grays and lip squeaked a red up to about 15 feet. Never heard or saw a coyote at pretty solid spots. Screwed up and tried to save the best for last. Got there at midnight and wind was cranking steady over 20mph. Made my way to a patch that acted like a windbreak and nothing.
