Went out again last night to give it a try. The first set was blank. Then went to the second set and had action. Set up facing south next to the farmer equipment with the call 35 yds to the north of me. The wind was a light breeze from the east. Started my calling sequence and with in 3-4 mins had 3 coming from the west across the field. The biggest one stop at 100 yds, and thop and down, nice big male. The other 2 took off and got the to stop and look back, thop and 2nd was down, another smaller male. The third took off to the NE and into the wood. I was able to get it to come back into the field, but it wouldn't come to the down coyote. Just sat there and started barking, I tried but missed. It was gone.
Of these 2, the second smaller male had shoulder mitts, so no good on it fur.
Went to the next spot and it was a blank set. On my way home I thought I would give this piece of property a try. Haven't hunted it since last year. Park the truck on a side road and worked my way out to the edge of the swamp in the field. Set up on the west side watching to the east. Started my calling sequence and was on my 3rd sound when I saw this one coming from the north heading south. It stopped and would look my direction but never seemed to be interested. I barked and it stopped at 225yds (Onx) thop and down. It was a nice looking female. Nice fur on this one.
As always, thanks for taking the time to read my post.
