Was surprised to see hm1996 list data at 53.6gr, most modern manuals don't even go that high, he must know something!
Gee, thanks, 66! First time ever I've been accused of "knowing something".
Only used 4064 briefly, many years ago; 49 gr. IMR 4064 behind 190 gr. SMK was recommended for 600-1000 yd matches by a friend, but found a great load using H450 (obsolete now) and switched.
Hornady #7 does not list 4064 w/190 gr. but list 49.2 as max behind 178-180 gr. bullets @ 2700 fps.
That 53.6 gr. is red line in the Hornady 7th edition. I wondered about it myself as it shows 3000 fps and less than half the powders listed achieve that (book) velocity. They show 51.7 gr. to produced 2900 in the '06.
I load for accuracy and many loads tighten up near max, but always approach max loads with caution!
