300 Hamr questions

So the wife picked me up a new Wilson Combat 300 Ham’r barre that I’ll be mounting this week. Has anyone built a ham’r yet? Is there a Lee quick trim die setup available or that’ll work on it? Any other suggested trimming methods?

I’ve seen the jigs to cut 223 brass down, but I’d imagine you’d have to do the big trim with a jig, neck size, then final trim, correct?? I’ve not had to create my own brass before...anyone have any load data for 125’s or up? I like the hornady FTx, but I’m open to ideas!

The new cartridge is bigger than the 223 and makes less than ideal cases as they will have to blow out significantly. I think I'd buy the real deal.

Get a Squirrel Daddy to cut them if one is available or build a jig and use the little chop saw from Harbor Freight.

if you dont already have a saw and all the goodies for brass making....might be just better served to get a 200 case of 125 sierra PH's and just use that brass for your starters.

you're gonna be $75-80 into tooling ($36 for hf saw, $31 for a ham'r cutting jig from zep), so that kinda offsets the cost a bit...

and by going the ammo route... that way you've got some factory ammo to proof the system with, and your once fired brass will be from your barrel. and hopefully by the time you exceed the lifespan of those 200 pcs... starline will be back off backorder and you can pickup some more to fill out your reloading supplies.

wilson has it in stock as of my typing this for $237

just some food for thought

I use a WFT trimmer in 300 Blackout and a drill press. Just a few seconds and its trimmed. I like Lake City brass the best as it seems to have more volume.
