I think the SAUM is a fine round. I see barely used guns for sale at good prices. I went with the 300wsm, & the remington 300 saum seems to have lost the race as a production rifle. As a handloader, if I was to buy today I wouldn't have a problem with the saum version.
I use H-4350 with 165 & 180 grn bullets in my 300wsm. The only other I have loaded was some light loads with H-4895 & 150 grn bullets. Depending on your powder at hand, company web sites should have tested data to try out.
