.308 mossberg 100 ATR

I adjusted the trigger for my friends new 270. He's shooting two and a half inch groups with it. I was more impressed by the Stevens 200 than the Mossberg ATR. The trigger is adjustable if you pull the barreled action out of the stock.

This is a bottom end gun that is on the bottom end. It will do for a rough and ready deer rifle, but I believe there are better rifles out there for near the same money.
 
ok so what do ya suggest id like to stay in the 30 cal range. and i already have a .30-06 so i dont need another. but ill shoot just about anything with it. probably the largest will be deer. id like it to be long range too.
 
Stevens 200 in the caliber you like. My old hunting partner bought a Savage package rifle with scope and sling in 7mm Rem mag for about $370.00 a few months ago. It came with the accu-trigger. It shoots nice groups and seems like a lot of gun for the money.

I like the 243 and lots of folks like the 25-06, 270 or 280 Remington. If your magnum oriented the 7mm Rem mag has near the same recoil as the 06 and then there's always the great 300 Win mag.

My friend with the ATR he bought at Wally world now laments that he'd rather have gotten the Stevens 200 now that he's had the ATR for a while.

Keep in mind that with the Stevens or Savage you can switch out barrels (calibers) in about 15 minutes with a go headspace gauge, barrel nut wrench and barrel vice.
