.308 reloads for bolt gun?

while we're on the topic (sort of) IS there a reasonably fur friedly load for the .308? What about a lighter weight 125-130gr. something at moderate velocity? Anyone w/experience?

think I would load up some fmj's if looking for something halfway fur friendly. Any other bullet I've tried out of my 308 around 2700fps isn't fur friendly at all..big holes and a mess. My 308 has been pretty much my head shot only rifle otherwise it makes a big mess of things.

Not a barn burner but very accurate in my .308 Win Howa Supreme Varminter. I have busted many jackrabbits at well over 200 yards with this load.

LOTS of powders work well in the 308. 4064, 4895, Varget, R-15, are probably the best of the bunch, IMO. The latter 2 are the only 2 I bother with anymore. Varget is a tad less temp sensitive, and R-15 is a tad faster. No need to look any further........

I have been using only varget in my 308 with both 155 ncc, and 168 ncc, and soon to try 175 ncc. I really would like to try some viht (can't remember the #) with some of the heavier loads.

I am loading Lapua Scenar 167's with N540, so far so good, need to shoot some more though. I'd try some of their other powders as well but Vihtavuori is hard to come by unfortunately. Other powders I use for .308 are RL15 and TAC.
