.327Fed for coyotes?

Just a curious question for the masses:

Ruger/Lipseys has issued an adjustable sight "Single 7" small/mid frame single action in .327 Federal in 4 5/8", 5 1/2", and 7 1/2" barrels.

I was a big fan in the past of my Ruger Single Six "Vaqueritos" in .32H&R as Coyote fodder, but the 4 5/8" barrels, fixed sights, and birdshead grips made it a bit of a challenge. The 32H&R was barely what I'd call effective on deer, but the .327FM ups the ante pretty significantly. Although I'm still not a huge fan of a ~80-120grn pill out of a revolver for deer, the extra oomph for coyotes would be nice!

Considering how few coyote handgunners there are to start out with, does anyone really think that there is a niche to be filled by offering a nearly exclusive coyote revolver based around the .327Fed? (Or plinker, of course).

I'm not a pistolero but it would be nice in a Marlin 1894 carbine or something along the lines of the old Remington M25.

I'd definitely agree on this, but I'd want Marlin to do it with a side loading port, typical of the 1894, NOT the tube-fed abomination that they put together for the .32H&R version of the 1894!!

Well, how many people own a .44mag that have never hunted deer with it, or hunted anything for that matter. A small, powerful .32 makes infinitely more sense for your average joe to own, strictly from a practicality standpoint. Guys like to pack around these huge magnum revolvers fantasizing about stopping a charging grizzly (irregardless of whether they live in bear country or not) when in reality the most likely dangerous animal they may come across is a rabid coyote or wild dog. That big magnum is not much use for small game but a .32 long or .32 H&R would be ideal.

The problem is you sell people what they want, not what they need.

I would be all over one if they made it in the "hunter" version
like the looks and a little scope on it would be a great little small game getter with the lighter .32 rounds

dont have a .327 yet, but my 32 mags are just plain fun to shoot

I by and large agree with this, but specifically comparing the .44mag and the .327Fed just doesn't suit. Long standing history with readily available ammo vs. a new(er) cartridge without much volume. Granted, it SHOULD HAVE taken off better than it did, and the .32H&R should have hung around better than it did because of the reasons you're mentioning.

I'm mostly just curious if there could be a realistic niche market that helped the .327Fed survive in a hunting platform (since it and the .32H&R by and large failed in the defensive SP-101 and Cowboy Action Single Six Vaquero). I'm not sure how much sense I think a 9 shot Super Blackhawk in .327fed would make for deer or hog hunters, but in the current "fad" of MSR's and new predator hunters, maybe the .327FM has a chance to carve out it's own little piece of "I'm perfect for hunting THIS..."

I would love to have a 327 Mag in a 5-6" double action revolver for small game and coyotes. SD law would frown on my using it for deer, which is fine by me, but for 'yotes, I suspect it would be a dandy. I know it was designed as a self defense cartridge but if they can make a 500 S&W Magnum with a 4" barrel, why on earth can't they make a 327 Mag with a six?

Oh yeah, jusin10mm already answered that question.

Should make a fine predator sixgun. Think it might be a ear ringer though, kinda like those .30 carbines that ruger makes. Maybe have a spare 32/20 cylinder made up for her to?

Dammit... The more I think on this Single 7 .327FM, the more I want one... And I just got rid of my last 32 cal revolver not a year ago (after owning nearly 2 dozen of them)...

Although I'll likely break with tradition and add a red dot sight on top, and maybe a Bisley grip (since I don't have any bisley's left either).

Get one! Great caliber! This is the gun Ruger should have made first. I have a big heavy 8 shot Blackhawk and a S&W 631 with a ported bbl. and adjustable sights. Love the caliber!

I have had 3 of the 327's and still have 2 of them. Love them. Awesome round and should have caught on better than it did as already mentioned but revolvers seem kind of old hand and out of date right now in the current market. It is a very loud and potent round at full loading but has a terrific range of options for work/play from 32acp, 32 short,32 long, 32H&R, 327 low recoil Federal loads up to the maxed-out Buffalo Bore 327 hard cast and a lot of wiggle room in between if you load your own.
